Long time Glen Ellen resident, Leela Hutchison, G.G. was the first American woman to explore the largest crystal caves discovered on Earth. While living in the Valley of the Moon she was inspired to write a first hand account of this exploration. She wrote and published Journey into the Giant Selenite Crystal Caves of Mexico, in 2016. Leela says, “I was very much inspired by author Jack London and that he lived in Glen Ellen. He gave me the courage to write my book.” In her book she describes being one of the first people to see forty foot tall giant crystals underground, located one thousand feet below the earth's surface in deadly crystal caves. They were discovered in Chihuahua, Mexico in April 2000. Leela will be showing the first ever images that were taken of the crystal caves, seven years prior to the National Geographic documentary, in 2008. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Tickets are sold at the door of Magick Oak Wellness. There is limited seating. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Glen Ellen Historical Society.
